
Edward Hanes
to Edward Hanes, Jr., EEO Officer and former adjunct professor at the WSSU School of Business and Economics, who received the WFU/WSSU Martin Luther King Jr. Building the Dream Award Jan. 17 at Wake Forest University.
The award recognizes one professor/administrator and one student from each of the two universities for their efforts to promote racial diversity and harmony in their communities through the embodiment Dr King’s vision, dream and spirit. Hanes who joined Winston-Salem State in 2005, was recognized for his impact on students in the classroom and his efforts as an advocate for fairness and diversity in the workplace and in the broader Triad community.

In addition congratulations are also extended to Jerome Perry, II, a WSSU junior political science major, who also received the WFU/WSSU Martin Luther King Jr. Building the Dream Award.
Perry is extremely involved in the community and on campus, volunteering to serve in community service agencies, in the public schools and providing leadership to numerous campus organizations. He has achieved Dean’s List status every year of his college career.
