Dr. Legette performs with Piedmont Wind Symphony

Dr. Lee David Legette , professor of Music in the Department of Fine Arts, is a featured soloist on the latest CD release by the Piedmont Wind Symphony (PWS) Live Volumes VII, VIII, IX.  It is a multi-disc set representing three distinct moods, Honor – in tribute to the late conductor, Frederick Fennell; Worldly – has an international flavor with a unique grouping of music representing the countries of Ireland, the Netherlands, Africa, Russia, and America; and finally Indefatigable – featuring legendary works such as Carmina Burana, Mars and Pictures at an Exhibition.

Dr. Legette is featured throughout the CD but as a soloist on the lyrical and secular Ballade performed on alto saxophone.  Legette remarked, “One of the things that makes this recording particularly meaningful for me is having the opportunity to perform this work with its composer – Alfred Reed – conducting.  Legette has served as principal alto saxophonist with the PWS for nineteen (19) years.  The PWS is under the musical and artistic direction of Robert Simon.
